Ford automobile with a combustion engine (A1)
In the beginning of the 1920's, cars were fueled by steam powered engines, which was very expensive. Then came Henry Ford, he invented the first car that ran with a combustion engine A combustion engine means fuel is burned inside the vehicle and goes from chemical to mechanical energy which pushes the car along. This invention made it much easier for the middle class to obtain cars. With a cost-effective assembly line and standardized production, Henry Ford, the founder of the Ford Motor Company, became a leading manufacturer of affordable cars. As the 1920's began to progress technologically, trains and ocean liners started to be the dominant transportation method because of their reliability. Trains and ocean liners were also very popular amongst American vacationers because they could travel across the country or across the sea comfortably and safely.
