The 1920's
After World War I, America had grown with their technology, their economy, and entertainment. American workers made technology more advanced and easier to use. From the new technology made, like radios and phonographs, families had more time to do what they wanted such as singing, playing games, and watching silent films with their family. Also, music was being made by new instruments. Jazz, at this time, was very popular and made American culture. After the war, new laws were made like the prohibition act, which made drinking alcohol illegal. Although some stores did not sell alcohol at the time, there were many people who sold them as a business; it was considered an organized crime. Other crimes and laws were found in the 1920's such as making biblical sayings more reliable than scientific searches. The Scopes Trial was one of the largest trials between fundamentalism and modernism. Art and literature in the 1920's, was related to modernism by helping themselves simplify their lives. Therefore, all of these contributions to the 1920's became known as The Roaring Twenties.
